The 2017 Census of Agriculture results will be released on Thursday, April 11th. If you’re looking for updated production information, this is a great resource. Here are some quick facts about the census and some ways to see the results!
What is the Census of Agriculture? It’s a record of all the humans, animals, and land involved in agriculture. They collect demographic information about farmers, inventory farm animals, and record acreage by crop.
Where can you get the results? The best place to go is www.nass.usda.gov. They have raw data by county and state, and a variety of tools to query the results. Throughout the year more reports will be released, including quick guides to individual states and updated maps.
The website is kinda hard to navigate, but fortunately the USDA has this cheesy but detailed help guide video. Enjoy!
